Captains Duties.
1. Team captain acts as a spokesperson during the game. Only the team captain is allowed to speak to supervising IM Coordinator
regarding game play.
2. Team captain is responsible for conduct of all its players and spectators. This includes conduct related to sportsmanship and
respect for school property. (ie trash, equipment usage, etc.) Supervising IM Coordinator may remove players or spectators if necessary.
3. Knowing and understanding all rules. Inform team of league rules and equipment policies.
4. Keep rosters updated (roster changes may be made until the second week of the season).
5. At least 4 participants must be on their designated court/field no later than 7 minutes into nutrition
break. If team does not have the minimum required amount of players (4) the game is considered a FORFEIT!
Captains are responsible for keeping team informed of game times.
6. One forfeit will result in a team losing the right to compete in the playoffs. Two forfeits will result in a team being dropped from the
league.
Rules of Play.
1. The first team on their assigned court will be awarded the first possession. The first possession starts with a “check” in the half court.
2. Scoring: Game score is traditional (2's/3's) with 1 point added for foul in the act of making a basket (and 1).
3. After each goal is scored the offensive team is to put the ball in play immediately. It is not necessary to inbound the ball on a made basket.
4. The ball is out of bounds when it goes out of the playing area or into another court.
*Defensive Priveledge: If the ball goes out of bounds for any reason other than a kicked ball the ball is the defensive teams AUTOMATICALLY.
5. When ball is dead at the side line, the ball is put into play by a throw in.
6. Fouls are to be called by the offensive player directly affected by the foul. The defensive player who commits the
foul may also call a foul on themselves only. Following a foul the ball is put in play via the “check” process.
7. All standard basketball penalties will be enforced. Flagrant fouls will result in removal from game immediately and guilty player may be put on probation from the IM program.
8. Fouls committed in conjunction with a made basket will result in awarding offensive team an additional
point.
Players.
1. Game is played with 5 players unless only 4 players are available from either team. If only 4 players are available the game will be 4 on 4.
2. A minimum of 4 players are needed to start and play a game. Teams may play if they choose, but it remains a forfeit for the late team regardless of the score.
3. Rosters may only have 8 participants on them unless ok is given from IM Coordinator.
4. If one team at any time has a lead of 10 points the game is over.
5. Teams are encouraged to have both genders on the court at all times in Co-Ed Games.
Equipment.
1. Each player must wear athletic shoes.
2. Teams should wear shirts of the same color if at all possible.
3. Jewelry, chains, rings, or earrings that could interfere (IM Coordinators opinion) may NOT be worn.
Playing time.
1. Games will consist of one 18 minute game.
2. Teams will be allowed one, 30 second time-out per game.
3. Time-outs will be called by players on the court only.
4. TIES: The winner will be the team that scored last.
5. Substitutions. Teams can sub when opposing team has the ball in their frontcourt only.
Player Conduct.
1. No Swearing will be allowed. A warning will be given for the first offense (team warning). Second offense will be unsportsmanlike
conduct which will result in loss of point and ejection from match.
2. Fighting by any player or team will result in automatic ejection from the IM Program and will result in referral to SRO.
3. Taunting of opposing players will result in automatic ejection.
4. BEHAVIOR VIOLATIONS:
Participants who cause the following to occur must Coach Genung prior to participating in any other IM Activities. Participants found to have violated the following without reporting to Coach Genung will cause their team to forfeit any IM Activity in which they were
involved.
Students who receive a suspension, referral or negative report from a teacher or administrator will be on probation for one week and cannot participate in IM games or activities.
Students who receive a suspension, referral or negative report twice in the same semester cannot participate in IM sports for that semester but are eligible to re-apply for second semester activities.
Ejection from IM Activity
